Freelancer Guidelines
This guide is here to help you present yourself professionally, communicate clearly, and make sure you and your clients have a good experience on our platform. Please follow these guidelines to build trust and keep a strong reputation.
What type of photo should I use for my profile?
- Your profile photo should clearly show your face. Avoid angles that hide your features.
- Make sure the image quality is high, so it looks professional and clear.
- Ideally, the photo should be either a full-height or at least a half-body shot.
- Do not wear sunglasses or a mask, as these can hide your expressions.
- The pose in your photo should be appropriate—avoid any photos where you are smoking, drinking, or making silly faces.
- The energy in your photo should feel positive, so try for a happy or lively expression, not a sad one.
- Present yourself in a clean and neat way.
- Avoid any nudity or suggestive poses. The profile photo should be family-friendly.
How should I respond to a message?
- Your first response to a client’s message should be friendly and filled with good energy. This helps create a positive first impression.
- For example, if they ask about an activity, you could respond: “Hello Sarah, thank you so much for contacting me! Yes, I would be happy to play tennis today. What time would you like to start?”
- If you are not available, you could say: “Oh, I’m really sorry, but today I have a family member’s birthday. Could we reschedule for another day or maybe an evening time? Again, I apologize for any inconvenience.”
- Remember, a friendly tone and polite words can make clients feel appreciated, which is very important for building good relationships.
How fast should I respond to a message from clients?
- Always try to reply as quickly as possible, ideally within 1-5 minutes. The faster you respond, the more our website will show your profile, which means more clients are likely to see you.
- If you respond to messages late (for example, after a few hours), your profile will not be promoted as much, and this can lead to fewer clients over time.
- Set reminders or keep your business number’s notification volume high to make sure you don’t miss messages. Quick responses make clients feel valued and respected.
How can I improve my message response rate?
- To help improve your response rate, keep your business number’s notification volume high so you don’t miss any messages.
- We will also sometimes send test messages to check how quickly you respond during the working hours you have set. This is just to help make sure clients have a good experience.
- Staying consistent with quick responses can increase your visibility and make clients more likely to reach out again in the future.
What time should I arrive at the location?
- When you have a meeting scheduled, such as a 3 PM bowling game at a specific mall, aim to arrive at least 10 minutes early. This shows professionalism and respect for the client’s time.
- Continuously arriving late can upset clients and put your account at risk.
- If you’re running late, inform the client ahead of time, letting them know you’ll be 10-20 minutes late due to reasons like traffic.
- Being on time or early shows that you are reliable and helps you build a good reputation on the platform.
How much should I charge per hour, and how do I get paid?
- After you’ve greeted the client and agreed on the activity, confirm your hourly rate with them. Remember, clients can see your average hourly rate on your profile before they contact you.
- For example, if a client contacts you to play chess at a coffee shop and your hourly rate is $12 per hour, you can let them know that for 2 hours, it will be $24.
- Additionally, you may choose to add a transportation fee, say $10, which is optional but allowed. Clients are also informed that some freelancers may add a transportation fee.
- So, in this example, the total would be $24 for 2 hours plus the $10 transportation fee, making it $34.
- Clear communication about rates helps prevent misunderstandings and keeps the payment process smooth.
What if we agreed on 2 hours, but the client wants to play more or less time?
- If you’ve agreed on a 2-hour activity and it extends to 3 hours, let the client know when the initial 2 hours have passed. If you’re okay with continuing, inform them that additional time will be charged according to your hourly rate.
- If the client originally booked 2 hours but only played for 1 hour, they are still expected to pay for the full 2 hours since you reserved that time for them. This is standard practice, and clients are informed of this policy.
- The only exception is if you choose to end the activity early for personal reasons, such as an emergency.
- Communicating clearly about reserved time and rates keeps expectations clear for both you and the client.
When do I ask for payment—before or after the activity?
- Payment should always be requested after the activity has finished, and it should match the rate and amount agreed upon during your conversation with the client.
- For example, if the original payment was agreed at $34 for a 2-hour game (including a $10 transportation cost) and the game extended by an additional 30 minutes, you would charge an extra $5 for the extra time. So, the final total would be $39.
- Asking for payment at the end keeps the experience comfortable for clients and makes sure they’re happy before paying.
What type of clothes should I wear when meeting clients?
- Whether you are male or female, dress appropriately for the specific activity you’ll be doing with the client.
- Overall, your clothing should be clean, presentable, and well-suited to the setting. Imagine what you’d wear if you were going out with close friends to play sports or to eat at a nice restaurant.
- Each activity has its own dress code, but the key is to dress appropriately and with positive energy. A smile and a friendly attitude go a long way.
- Appropriate clothing helps set a professional tone and makes clients feel comfortable and respected.
What should I wear to fancy places or restaurants?
- Avoid wearing clothes that could give the wrong impression. A nice, attractive outfit is great, but wearing something overly exposed or suggestive can make clients uncomfortable, as it may lead others to mistake you for a sex worker.
- Aim to look beautiful and put-together, but avoid any outfit that looks erotic.
- For men, a nice T-shirt with or without a suit jacket works well, or any outfit that fits the dress code of the location.
- Presenting yourself well in these settings helps you make a great impression without crossing professional boundaries.
How should I chat or communicate with clients?
- When you receive a message from clients, always reply positively and in your natural tone. Be welcoming, polite, and friendly.
- For example: “Thank you so much for your invite! I’d be happy to play golf this afternoon. What time would you like to meet? My hourly rate for golf is $20/hour, with an additional transportation fee of around $10. Does that work for you? Great, see you at 4 PM at the golf club. Thank you!”
- Clear and polite communication builds trust and helps create a friendly, enjoyable experience.
What if a client wants to add an additional activity?
- If a client suggests a new activity, such as playing arcade games after bowling, it’s up to you whether you’d like to agree, based on your hourly rate.
- However, sharing a ride to a different location with the client is not allowed. Safety is our top priority. It’s best to politely refuse if the new location is not in the same area, as moving to a different area increases risks.
- Keeping boundaries clear around location and transportation helps maintain safety and professionalism.
